When we talk about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we mean various ways God’s spirit gets worked into our lives. This is complex and often mis- understood but Paul says he wants us to be informed and knowledgeable on this. The gifts are an expression of God’s power and are at work everywhere but God himself is behind it all. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: every believer gets in on it, every believer benefits or ought to benefit. The variety is wonderful. The gifts are to unify us as believers in Christ and make the body stronger. 1 Corinthians 12v12-31

A body isn’t just a single part blown up into something huge. It is all the different-but-similar parts arranged and functioning together. All these gifts work hand-in-hand in fulfilling God’s perfect plan for the body of Christ, body of Christ being the church. None is of more importance than the other.

The Gifts of the Spirit are: 1 Corinthians 12 v 8-10

These gifts are likened to the different parts of a human body. God has carefully placed each part of the body or in this case each gift of the Spirit where he wants it.1 Corinthians 12 v 8b. Do not envy anyone’s gift. Turn over to the father who gives liberally and discover His working in your own life. Do away with pride and show off immaturely with any of the gifts, they are for the development of the church and not for some individual to use it foolishly.
