Fine I hope!

In my walk with God, I have learnt a lot of things; and I am still learning.

This portion is concerning my study of the word.  (A POST ON HOW TO STUDY THE WORD COMING SOON)

You cannot have a successful Christian life without constantly feeding on the word of God. There are a lot of materials available to help the young believer/Christian in our day to day study.

Some of these are the different translations of the bible to help us relate bible teachings with our present day life and give deeper meanings to teachings; a lot of us including myself do not understand old translations like the King James bible

My favourite is the message translation. Since I have been studying with this bible translation I hardly ever use any other,lol

A lot of churches and bible study groups use this translation a lot too.

 

Here is a little more information on WHY EUGENE PETERSON, THE TRANSLATOR wrote the message translation

Why was The Message written?

The best answer to that question comes from Eugene Peterson himself: "While I was teaching a class on Galatians, I began to realize that the adults in my class weren't feeling the vitality and directness that I sensed as I read and studied the New Testament in its original Greek. Writing straight from the original text, I began to attempt to bring into English the rhythms and idioms of the original language. I knew that the early readers of the New Testament were captured and engaged by these writings and I wanted my congregation to be impacted in the same way. I hoped to bring the New Testament to life for two different types of people: those who hadn't read the Bible because it seemed too distant and irrelevant and those who had read the Bible so much that it had become 'old hat.'" Peterson's parishioners simply weren't connecting with the real meaning of the words and the relevance of the New Testament for their own lives. So he began to bring into English the rhythms and idioms of the original ancient Greek— writing straight out of the Greek text without looking at other English translations. As he shared his version of Galatians with them, they quit stirring their coffee and started catching Paul's passion and excitement as he wrote to a group of Christians whom he was guiding in the ways of Jesus Christ. For more than two years, Peterson devoted all his efforts to The Message New Testament. His primary goal was to capture the tone of the text and the original conversational feel of the Greek, in contemporary English. Language changes. New words are formed. Old words take on new meaning. There is a need in every generation to keep the language of the gospel message current, fresh, and understandable —the way it was for its very first readers. That is what The Message seeks to accomplish for contemporary readers. It is a version for our time —designed to be read by contemporary people in the same way as the original koine Greek and Hebrew manuscripts were savored by people thousands of years ago. That's why NavPress felt the time was right for a new version. When we hear something over and over again in the same way, we can become so familiar with it that the text loses its impact. The Message strives to help readers hear the living Word of God— the Bible— in a way that engages and intrigues us right where we are. Some people like to read the Bible in Elizabethan English. Others want to read a version that gives a close word-for-word correspondence between the original languages and English. Eugene Peterson recognized that the original sentence structure is very different from that of contemporary English. He decided to strive for the spirit of the original manuscripts—to express the rhythm of the voices, the flavor of the idiomatic expressions, the subtle connotations of meaning that are often lost in English translations. The goal of The Message is to engage people in the reading process and help them understand what they read. This is not a study Bible, but rather "a reading Bible." The verse numbers, which are not in the original documents, have been left out of the print version to facilitate easy and enjoyable reading. The original books of the Bible were not written in formal language.

The Message tries to recapture the Word in the words we use today.

Hope you are having a fabulous week?

Isn't it quite annoying to buy an expensive lipstick and in less than a month, its broken :(

I recently got Mac's flat out fabulous after delaying for soo long; I forgot my makeup bag in my car and virtually all my lipsticks got melted and eventually broke!!!!!!! (Due to exposure to heat and the sun)

I did a little bit of research and here is 'HOW TO FIX YOUR BROKEN LIPSTICK'

Forgive the low resolution of the pictures *covers face*

YOU WILL NEED-

1. A LIGHTER

( I COULD NOT FIND MINE, SO I USED BROOM STICKS AND LITE IT WITH FIRE FROM MY COOKER)



2. TOILET OR KITCHEN PAPER 

3. A FREEZER OR REFRIDGERATOR

Here goes!!

step 1:Place the lipstick on the kitchen/toilet paper

 

Step 2: Pick the end of the lipstick and melt it; just a bit; so you don't have too much product wasted.

 

Step 3: place the melted end of the lipstick back to FIT.

 

Step 4: Put it in the freezer or refrigerator FOR 15MINS

  

LIPSTICKS ARE BACK TO NORMAL....YAAAAY! WELL ALMOST!

THIS IS MY FIRST POST FOR THE YEAR and I am super excited because I have a lot planned for this year.

Promise me we will have an even more fabulous year than the last :*

I am a sucker for great lip wear.... I invest in them; lip glosses, lipsticks, lip stains, lip liner pencils. YOU NAME IT!!!

Here are a few tricks I would like to share on getting the lip wear right.

   

First of all let us define the general lippie textures.

• Matte: Texture of the lip wear which means it is dry and longwearing.


• Satin or sheer: Very high oil content with shine and not longwearing; you may need to keep touching up when you use this


• Cream: Soft and smooth but not dry or shiny. Most appropriate for ladies with thin lips.


• Frosted: Very shiny with glisten and sparkle.


• Moisturizing: Containing ingredients like vitamin E, glycerine or aloe, which help treat dry lips; keeping them soft and smooth.


•  Gloss; It applies very easily,Also shiny like satin/sheer; but it is much less permanent.
  

key note: The wetter the texture, the less long wearing it is.

NOW TO THE TRICKS/TIPS;

1. TELL YOURSELF THE TRUTH: If the colour doesn't suit you, it doesn't, don't sweat it hun! You do not have to wear a particular lip colour just because it is in vogue, it may appear lovely on your friend but not on you.


2. Start out safe; go for a tone close to the natural colour of your skin. Remember that a lipstick extremely brighter than your natural colour may have a dulling effect on your complexion.


3. Do not underestimate the power of a lip base. An undercoat of lip essence or balm will improve the lipstick colour,prevent dryness, and hide vertical lines.   


4. During lip wear application, start from the middle.


5. Got thin lips?? Get a good lip plumber, it helps make lips appear fuller. If you are still not satisfied with the effect the plumber gives, go for strictly creamy lip wears. The creaminess adds some plumpness to the lips.


6. Ladies with thin lips should avoid darker colours, dark shades will only show off those thin lips; well except you do not mind.


7. Add some extra lip wear to the middle of your lips to make them appear fuller.


8. Lip liners are not compulsory but are very effective! they help lipstick stay on longer and of course help in defining the lips, you can also make your lips look fuller or slimmer. Please try to AVOID LINING/PAINTING OUTSIDE THE LINE in the bid to make the lips fuller, this may end up bad. Stay right on the edge of the lips.

9. Another trick is to fill in fully with lip liner before applying the lipstick, you can play it safe with a nude liner for this.

10. The secret to choosing the right red lip color is in the undertones. Those with olive skin can wear fire-engine red. Dark skin looks great with deep reds, like the Mac Russian red lipstick.

11. Avoid too much sparkle; they look cheap

12. When testing the lipstick/lip wear in a store, swipe the stick on your fingertips; this is a closer fit to your lips than the back of your hand. Also remember to wipe off the end of the lipstick before you put it back for another person to try!

13. The prettiest nude lip color is slightly brighter or deeper than your skin tone. Generally light skin women look better on nudes, if you are a bit on the dark side you will have to take more time in finding one that suits. I promise to do a post on the nude lip, I would give the exact brand names as well and yes you are welcome!

14. Don't throw out a bad shade of lipstick or one you do not like. You can blend lipsticks to get a fab colour. Makeup is all about art and creativity remember. If the lipstick is too bright, you can fill in lips with a darker liner(not a dark liner but a less lighter liner) before applying.

15. You can keep lipstick from marking your glass by licking your lips before taking a sip from a glass. It works!

16. Avoid the nasty! Keep lipstick off your teeth! After applying lipstick, take your index finger and pop it in your mouth, then pull it out. The excess lipstick will come off on your finger rather than your teeth.

17. If you notice a little bit of lipstick down in your tube, you can get it out with a lip brush. Lip brush is not just for contouring you know.

18. If you feel you look terrible in lipsticks, go for lip glosses or nice lip creams that give a soft look.

Take your time, go for what suits you, do not be afraid to test, try,have FUNNN and Be beautiful!!!
