MUST have MAKE-UP brushes for BEGINNERS
Saturday, April 26, 2014Howdy my lovely people...how has the week been?
A friend of mine asked me sometime ago about the right brushes or tools to get for her makeup application and i was definitely glad to help out. I gave it some thought and decided to share with my friends and readers here who are in the same dilemma.
Have fun reading :)
Makeup application depends a lot on the brush that you use. Now, it is up to you whether you would like to purchase drugstore priced brushes (low end and cheaper) or invest in a good quality/high end brush. Anyone just starting with makeup application might not know which brushes are worth investing in and which can be purchased at drugstore price and still work great. I do hope i would help with that in this post.
1. FOUNDATION BRUSH

The first and most important of makeup brushes for beginners is the foundation brush. This brush up(picture) is the Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki brush. It’s in between low to high end and truthfully can be sold in both categories but i personally think its high end. It applies foundation beautifully and flawlessly. This brush helps you apply your foundation in a circular motion because of the circular-shaped top. if you would prefer to dab your foundation lightly on, you would prefer a brush with a flat or angled top.
something like this will do!

2. CONCEALER BRUSH

The next brush I believe you ought to invest in is a concealer brush, though it’s very much possible to apply concealer (under the eyes) with your fingers. But, if you want to save tons of time, go for a concealer brush! The one up is a Sigma F86 Tapered Kabuki and it saves time in applying concealer and highlighting under the eye. This brush is called a tapered brush because of the tip. Here are other kinds of concealer brushes.

3. POWDER BRUSH
The next brush you want to have is a powder brush. A good powder brush is the Real Techniques Powder Brush (UP!). It’s huge and fluffy and is perfect for applying a powder to set and blend everything you just applied on your face!
NOTE that the powder brush you pick or buy should be based on your make up routine! if you prefer to put your powder on immediately after foundation and concealer application and before eyeshadow/eyeliner or bronzer/blush is applied, you should go for a bigger powder brush that can pack on more product and go round the face easier.
if you put on your powder AFTER every other thing has been done( blushing, eyeshadow or eyeliner application, bronzing etc), you should go for a smaller powder brush that does not do as 'much work', so that it does not spoil what has been set!
4. EYE LID BRUSH
The next brush every beginner needs to have is a general, all over lid brush for eye shadows. I have the ELF Eyeshadow 'C" Brush and Sigma E55 shading brush(not displayed) see previous post, make up haul for the brush . They apply eye shadows beautifully! I truly believe that all the shadow lid brushes work the same. It is not something you need to blow your money on, especially as a beginner! If you want colors to appear more vividly, simply spray the brush with some water and go ahead and apply the shadow.
5. BLENDING BRUSH
A blending brush is a must for gorgeous eye looks. You simply cannot create a look while missing this crucial step. Blending is very important in makeup application, which is why it is a brush worth investing in! These brushes up are the best for blending in eye color on the eyes, they are the MAC 217 BRUSH(left and middle) and the Sigma E40 Tapered Blending brush(right).
6. BLUSH BRUSH
Since beginners don’t focus so much on contouring, the brushes are not a necessity. For now, you can focus on a simple blush brush. The Real Techniques Blush Brush is a very great blush brush. It applies the color without appearing cakey. It gets the job done beautifully! I also recommend the E.L.F or Bdellium blush brushes.
I hope you enjoy your journey into the makeup world and enjoy these wonderful makeup brushes for beginners.
